If the washer makes a humming sound and doesn't operate, or a very loud, squeaky noise that is not coming from the pulleys and belt, the problem is likely more serious. Thoughts there? I have the same problem, its the drum bearings and seal.
You may wish to prop a scrap board underneath or lift the washer and have a friend turn the leg leveler. Thanks - Doug doug.

Also saw comments on Drum bearing and Seal... Unplug the washer and remove the screws holding the front bottom panel in place, then swing the panel open from the bottom to free it.

I have this problem too and now just noticed that it is spitting grease out in splatter pattern on the floor. The clutch is not repairable, if it is loud or not working properly it will need to be replaced. Sometimes the repairs may be require simple adjustments you can make yourself.
A loud, squeaky noise may indicate worn bearings. The Squeaky Wheel... Replace the belt by putting it on in the same manner it was removed.
If the washer is a belt-driven model and makes a squeaking or squealing noise during the agitation, spin or drain cycles, the belt or pulleys may be to blame. As the clutch wears out it may become loud during spin or just after the spin cycle finishes. An auto parts place is not going to have what you need.
